Manikarnika Ghat (मणिकर्णिका घाट) is the primary cremation ghat in Varanasi and one of the most sacred places in Hinduism. It is believed that dying here and being cremated at this ghat guarantees moksha (liberation from the cycle of rebirth). According to legend, Lord Shiva's earring (manikarnika) fell here, making it eternally sacred. The ghat has sacred fires that are believed to have been burning continuously for thousands of years.
