About Pushkar Lake

Pushkar Lake is a sacred lake surrounded by 52 bathing ghats and numerous temples.
It is one of the five sacred dhams (pilgrimage sites) in India. According to legend, the lake was
created when Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower from his hand.

The lake is an important site for performing ancestral rites, especially during Kartik Purnima.

Religious Significance

Pushkar is unique as it has the only Brahma temple in India. The lake is
considered as sacred as Mansarovar. Bathing in the lake during Kartik Purnima is believed to
bring the merit of a hundred yagyas. It is also a significant site for asthi visarjan.
