About Ramkund

Ramkund is a sacred tank located on the banks of the Godavari River in Nashik.
It is believed that Lord Rama bathed in this tank during his 14-year exile. The kund is a major
site for performing ancestral rites and immersing ashes.

During Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, Ramkund becomes the center of religious activities,
attracting millions of devotees.

Religious Significance

Nashik is one of the four sites where the Kumbh Mela is held. Ramkund is
considered especially significant for performing the last rites. The ashes of many prominent
Indians, including Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, were immersed here.
